The club had a number of runners competing on saturday in a Schools South of England Inter-counties cross country fixture at the Southampton Sports Centre. This was the first time for a while that the Sports Centre has hosted a major regional XC event and so it was very encouraging to have some great performances for the county from locally based runners. Top local performer was Shirley girl Louise Webb who ran very impressively over the course she has been competing over for years in the local schools comptetitions. She used her knowledge of the conditions well to win by a comfortable 12 seconds in the intermediate girls race and lead an impressive winning Hampshire team performance in the age group, with Hampshire also taking second place (Lorna Russell from Winchester), 4th (Laura Alexander-High from Aldershot) and 6th place (Becki Gough from Team Southampton). There were also good performances as representatives for the county by a number of other Team Southampton runners including Martin Nottingham (Junior Boys); Scott Gallant, Jamie Knapp, Chris Dennis and Scott Legg (Inter boys), Sasha and Domi Mucci, Hayley Pointer, Charlotte Benning and Sarah Brown (Senior girls) and Russell North, John Slade & Oli Williams* (Senior boys).
