Hampshire League Race 4 |

Southampton AC continued their fantastic cross country form during the busiest part of the season with some good team and magnificent individual performances in race 4 of the Hampshire Cross country league on Saturday at King’s Park in Bournemouth.
The weather was chilly but calm with good conditions underfoot around a narrow and undulating course.
Ceri Mitchell dominated the senior womens race beating a fine field home by 30 seconds. This secures Ceri the individual league title despite their being a race to come. Next home for Southampton was Laura Brenton running a fine race in 7th
followed by Nicci Blandford in 15th to bring the womens team home in 2nd place.
Katie Hickson was 17th and 8th in the under 20 race, Catriona Witcombe was 19th and Hannah Coombs 52nd.
Steven Phillips improved on last weeks Hampshire championships 4th place finish to come home 2nd in the senior mens race. He was followed home by Matthew Revier who ran a great race to come 7th, Jacob Wiebel was next, coming 18th on his club debut, followed by Matt Hibberd in 20th and Graham Fisher who completed the scorers in 33rd (9th in the under 20 race). This placed the team 2nd on the day. Stuart Hicks was next home for the club in 35th, Peter Merritt was 36th, Martin Campbell 37th (10th in the under 20 race), William Davies 38th, Andrew Sweeney 40th, Tim Sherman 45th, Steven Underwood 51st, Michael Read 54th, Jake Bradley 56th (14th in under 20 race), Ian Stott 68th, Jonathan Grimes 75th, Steve Axon 99th, John MacInnes 100th, Jim Bennett 103rd and Keith Hollis 120th.
The young athletes were also in excellent form with Peter Ellis storming clear to win the U15 boys race. Lucas Clements secured another top ten finish in 8th, and Jamie Abrahams completing the scorers in 17th to bring the team home 2nd. Alex Prinsep was 23rd, Adam Coffin 29th and Matt Abbott 49th.
Luke Powell ran his best race of the season to come home 3rd in the under 13 boys race where Blake Miller was 19th.
Niall Holt ran a good race to be 10th in the under 17 mens race. Amarpal Gill was next home for the club in 20th and David Fisher completed the scorers in 23rd meaning the team finished 5th.
For the girls, Daena Bennett and Frances Arnott both ran fine races to come home 3rd & 4th respectively.
Abbie Fisher continued her recent improved form with a 6th place finish in the under 15 girls age group, Alana Spiers was also in the top ten in 8th place and Briallen Taylor was the 3rd Southampton AC girl home in 19th to bring the team home 4th. Anna Sharp was 23rd, Helen Jones was 29th and Alexandra Burchill was 51st on her club debut.
Lizzie Payne was her usual model of consistencty finishing 6th in the under 13 girls race. Jessie Tucker was 24th and Aimee Coppin 34th to secure the team 6th place. Ella Prinsep was 51st and Emily Astbury 53rd.
