Great news for spectators of local races bad news for Southamptons elite with the possible exception of Alex and Muhammed Matt Sharp has settled on the Isle Of Wight and has the ferry on standby in order to pounce on an unsuspecting race at any given opportunity.

Tri as they might the assembled field could get nowhere near him at Victory from the off winning easily in 23.58 . Joe Wade (2nd) remarked he was ‘different class’ and he was.

However it was a great day for Southampton with a series of excellent performances both the women and men winning the team prizes and a welcome back into competition to Abdi Muhammed who is definitely in good shape with 27.00.

Probably the two standout performances but for differing reasons were Laura Brentons and Aaron Bennetts. Laura absolutely smashed her PB for five miles by an incredible 2mins 24secs , improvements at the top end are normally measured in seconds and Aaron posted an excellent result 27.09  in a race that must have felt like a marathon to him as he concentrates normally on 800m (PB 1.49.18 2014)

Overall team positions in HRRL will follow shortly.
