Success at the Portsmouth Throws Festival !
Southampton athletes kept up their fine record in throwing at the Portsmouth Throws Festival held on Sunday 17th September.
A great day was had by all in a surprisingly wind-free Mountbatten Centre with even the sun making a welcome visit !
With music playing and a lit BBQ the throwers gave it their all.
The results were as follows:
For the U13 girls:
Olivia Austin won the Shot Put with 10.27m and won the Discus with 29.69m.
Gracie Jenvey achieved 9.31m in the Shot Put and 21.29m in the Javelin.
Jasmine Larsen won the Javelin event with a throw of 35.37m.
For the U15 girls:
Anna Merritt won the Discus with a new PB of 34.41m and won the Hammer with 46.22m.
Jessica Charlie Bennett achieved a Hammer throw of 35.61m and Javelin throw of 22.48m.
Jasmine Larsen, competing a weight up, won the Javelin event with a new PB of 32.92m.
For the U17 women:
Sam Callaway threw the Discus 40.81m and Shot Put 13.13m.
Emma Hunter threw the Discus 26.95m.
For U20 women:
Ellie Hodgson achieved a new PB of 11.68m in the Shot Put.
For the U15 boys:
Bradley Jenvey won the Javelin event with a new PB of 55.13m and achieved 11.31m in the Shot Put.
Oliver Thatcher won the Shot Put with a new PB of 12.67m.
For the U17 men:
Josh Douglas won the Discus with a throw of 48.75m and achieved a new PB in Shot Put of 13.91m.
For the U23 men:
Mathew Callaway threw a new PB in the Discus of 40.89m.
Medals were presented to all the age-group event winners.
For his achievements on the day, Bradley Jenvey received an additional award of a cheque to be used for 1-1 coaching with British Shot Put record holder Judy Oakes.
For her PB in the 500g Javelin event, Jasmine Larsen also won a hamper for being one of the most improved on the day.
Well done to all the competitors, their coaches and all the parents & relatives providing support throughout.
