Zak earns England schools place at schools cross country championships

The English schools cross country championships took place at Wollaton Park in Nottingham yesterday with a number of the clubs young athletes in the Hampshire schools team.  Zak Mahamed was the best place finisher and whilst he may have been a little disappointed with his 8th placed finish in the intermediate boys age group, it was still good enough to earn him a place in the England schools team for the Home International cross country match to be held in Falkirk in Scotland in 2 weeks time.  Zak also had the consolation of winning team gold as part of the Hampshire team.  In the senior boys age group, Sam Costley was 44th and Toby Hales didn’t finish for the junior boys.

For the girls, Anna Sharp was 112th and Alana Spiers 121st and both were part of the Hampshire team that was 10th.  No Southampton AC representatives were in the Intermediate girls race but Izzy Richardson ran well to be 48th for the junior girls where Phoebe Moriarty-Palios was 122nd with both girls being part of the Hampshire team that were 4th.
