The Eastleigh 10k always attracts a high calibre of entry as well as a massive number of entries and in 2022 it was no different. Both men’s and ladies winners recorded personal bests on a 10k course that is just about perfect in design and combined with cool sunny weather it was going to be quick. True , there was a light east/north easterly wind that uncharacteristically made the Shakespeare/Derby Road sections more challenging however this was compensated for by the 8-9k Chestnut Avenue section that can often completely drain weary legs.

Southampton fielded a lot of athletes with the men’s team triumphing beating 37 club teams in the process whilst the ladies were 4th out of a total of 24 teams another excellent performance. Sympathy for Aiden Lennan who recorded a time of 30.29 that would have been good enough to take 1st in 2021.
