The Overton 5 launched the 2021/22 HRRL season. It took place under tough conditions with at least 3 runners having to be attended to post race having been adversely affected by the heat, one of which ended up in hospital for a short period of time, thankfully recovering quickly.

Andy Greenleaf dominated the field with a 90 second buffer between himself and the second placed runner at the tape. Equally impressive was Helen Hall smashing the 30 minute barrier and finishing 5th overall.

The Overton 5 is unusual as the race unwinds immediately as runners descend a steep hill which can have negative repercussions for the competitors. Matt Risden struggled with a stitch after a couple of miles possibly due to the aforementioned whilst Scott Augur ran a highly respectable time on the day.

The second race to take place in the series is the Lordshill 10K (19th September 2021 / 9.30am start)
