The Academy

The academy provides athletic coaching for young athletes in school year 4 to 7 and is focused on providing a multi-event environment where all athletes benefit from coaching across all athletics disciplines, run, jump and throw.

The academy training

Training days and times

We train every Wednesday with two training times 5:30 to 6:25 and 6:35 to 7:30

From March to September we train at Southampton Outdoor Sports Centre.
From October to March, we train at Wyvern College, Botley Road, Fair Oak, SO50 7AN.

Joining the academy

The academy is split into two groups, fundamental and foundation. The fundamental group is made up of athletes from school years 4 & 5. The foundation group is made up of school years 6 & 7 with older athletes progressing to the senior training/event level groups.

If your child is in school year 4 to 7 they can register for the academy waiting list on the online membership system by selecting option ā€œ0. School Year 4-7 Academy Waiting Listā€ It is important that you type your child’s details into the system and press save when completed.

You will be sent a welcome email and when a space becomes available your child will be invited for a trial to see if they like it.

If you do not receive a welcome email within two weeks or want to remove your child from the waiting list please email us on: sacacademyinfo@gmail.com.

If your child is not yet in school year 4, you can still register and we will contact you when they are old enough to join the academy.

Club Kit

Club kit including competition vets can be bought from the cabin at the track, the cabin is managed by volunteers and while we would like it to be open all the time this isn’t always possible.

We have recently introduced named training T-shirts for the Academy athletes and they can be ordered on-line with the athletes name printed front and back and delivered directly to you: Order Here

If you already have a training T-Shirt or you prefer the existing SAC top, name letters can be ironed onto the shirt. Information on current kit can be found here

For Academy Parents / Useful information

We have created a code of conduct for parents and carers of children at the academy, which we require you to sign and return to one of the coaches. We have put this process in place as we coach in public spaces and we need to make sure an adult is present at all times.
